>From what you have said it looks like there may be a problem on the
read/chip...I don't remember which chip it is but in any case it is
ussually cheaper to replace all the socketed chips inside the drive...they
can be bought from most electronics stores at a reasonable price....say
$20.00 or so....this will ensure that there is not another chip causeing
problems with the read/write chip....
