Questions about Sider hard drives

Hello,

I have an old FCP Sider 10MB half-height hard drive.  It makes this
loud screeching sound that drives me crazy.  It's done this
for a long time (several years at least, it drove the former
owner insane, which is why I have it).

What is causing this?  Is there anyway to fix it,
or to upgrade the disk?  Is the Sider a SCSI drive,
or some sort of proprietary system?

I would appreciate hearing anything about the Sider,
as long as it isn't "SCRREEECH!"
