I have the standard Apple //c mouse. I recently spilled coffee on it and gummed
it all up. The fire button (mouse button) would stick after pressing it some-
times causing it to double click, other times preventing it from doing so. I
opened it up by removing the two philips screws located where the cord attached
to the mouse. (First remove the ball!) Pull the
bottom off, then gently manipulate the top off. There is one spring under the
mouse button. It is a piece of cake to put back together. I used some basic
contact cleaner I purchased at my local Radio Shack to clean it up. What a mess!
