My IIgs died Friday. :( Please help me resurrect it.
For the past 2 or 3 months, it buzzed really bad after a cold boot.
Every time, it got louder and lasted longer. Eventually, it failed
to boot unless I let it warm up first with the drives unattached.
Now not even that works.
I'm pretty sure it's my power supply. The LED on the IIgs front panel
starts at about half intensity, then goes out. Also, the screen has
muted colors, it sometimes rolls, and then it goes blank. This does
sound like a power supply problem, doesn't it, you experts out there?
A new IIgs supply costs $79. A refurbished one with tradein, $59.
Do I have any other options? I vaguely recall reading that some of
you use cheaper pee-cee power supplies, right? What's the deal with
that? There's no way to test or repair my old one, is there?
Thank you all for listening.
