Re: Chequered Screen on Boot ?-HELP-

 ||  Does any of you experts have a clue on what is happening ? I opened it
 || up and tried to remove what i think is the Boot-up ROM under the
 || keyboard, to see what hapens but no luck I get the same chequered
 || screen with or without it. The screen works (I tested it) but that's
 || about all that works.
 
Is there a circuit board sandwiched between the cpu and the main board? It
might have an old style memory board like a Checkmate or Z-ram. I have one
of those, and when the memory board is a little loose I get the checker-
board pattern on the screen. Try jiggling it a little (gently). As I recall
if you remove this board you will also remove the cpu and the computer will
lock with that checker screen. You might try removing the cpu and plugging
it back in. I have had this problem seveal times as I have a lot of stuff
under the hood (keyboard). I can hardly fit a zip chip with a z-ram memory
board. Its too thick. But a few jiggles and it works fine! Good luck.
