The magazine in question was A+ and the issue came out in Fall of 1987.
The intercom I used produced lots of noise for digitizing so I scrapped it.
What you need is a molex with at least two connectors on it. Connect a
micophone or a wire coming from an audio-out (i.e. portable CD player, etc)
and connect the ground to pin 2 and the signal to pin 1 (pin 1 is closest
to the front of the computer). As long as the impedence of the cable is
less than 3,000 ohms (that shouldn't be a problem) and the signal is no
higher than 2.5 volts, you can digitize all you want with appropriate
software (HyperStudio has a great digitizer. There are several out in the
public domain as well). Technical note: I forgot to mention that you
would need special connectors so you can connect the wires to the molex
connector.
