I am positive I read somewhere recently (and it makes sense with the
docs that came with all the versions of kermit I've ever seen, for MSDOS, Apple,
Unix, etc) that Kermit, and all software developed with the kermit project is
to be free. It makes a lot of sense so that the program can become a standard
(and it is for noisy phone lines, and was in the past). As better phones have
come, programs have increased the packet size (kermit I think uses 80 bytes
before each checksum) and don't check to see if a packet is bad as often.
Kermit is extrememly reliable, though slow, but it's also FREE!
