        On the ImageWriters I've worked on, there is no screw.  On an IW I,
there were two hinged clips that held the head in place; on the IW IIs I've
seen, there is a plastic spring clip on one side.

        I've seen suggestions to use WD-40, as it also lubricates the pins. 
I haven't had trouble with either method.
