I finally found a used PC Transporter (what a nice second RAM drive!) and read
the manual and I'm still confused about a few things:
1. An old ad said
You can use your Apple mouse. Or an IBM compatible serial mouse.
How would one go about using the latter? I didn't see any mentions in the
manual.
2. What's new in the PCT Software v 2.0.5? (I have 2.0.2)
3. I'm using a //e and the manual was very vague about hooking up an analog
RGB monitor (not that I have an RGB monitor but I'm curious).
If you want to use an Apple-compatible analog RGB monitor . . .,
you can use it for PC Transporter video output only by using the
Colorswitch . . . . An exception to this is if you are already capable
of displaying Apple's own video on the monitor.
The manual goes on to instruct //e users to read the section about installing
the Colorswitch in a GS. Does someone with an RGB card need to install the
Colorswitch? Can someone without an RGB card use the Colorswitch to run
an analog RGB monitor in either PCT or native Apple mode?
4. I assume that Apple 3.5 drives hooked up to the PCT can't handle Apple-
formatted disks.
5. Since I don't feel like blowing $189 on a transdrive but still want to
access my ancient 5.25" IBM disks, is there a cheap PC-compatible disk
drive I can hook up to the PCT? Seeing all these generic 360k drives being
sold for $15 makes me prefer tinkering with such a drive than getting a
transdrive.
6. Did AE ever offer technical info about the PCT? I'd love to access the
math coprocessor from my Apple programs or just write weird programs that
used the PCT and my Z80 simultaneously.
Inquiring minds wanna know.
