Re: How well do you like your RamFast card?
I have a Rev. C RAMFast/SCSI with v3.01a ROMs. I run a Quantum Q250 and
Xebec 1410/CMI5412 hard disk with it and I must say that it does live up
to it's name--even on the Xebec system.
My only complaint is that the utilities don't have an option for the user
to completely specify the drive geometry/parameters at format time if the
drive is one that the RF can't ID itself. I also discovered that the
Utilities don't quite handle the Xebec system properly (even though it
claims it to be a Sider SASI drive) if you have to re-format it.
Fortunately, I discovered a sequence of steps that got things back together
properly--although they weren't obvious and sound a bit absurd, they worked
when nothing else did.
I hope eventually to add floptical drives so I can have removable storage and
a somewhat better backup facility. I understand that this is no problem
when usuing a RAMFast.
