Apple Disk Drives

I have had a request from a good cause (an educational foundation for 
disabled kids) to see if I can help them to get some dead Apple IIe and Plus  
disk drives going.  They are not sure whether the controller card or the 
actual drives are dead, but I suppose that can be quickly isolated.

	I would be grateful for suggestions - or even a reference to a book - 
that will tell me where to start.  Is there a standard set of chips that tend 
to go wrong that can be swapped out?  I would be most grateful for any 
information on this.  Please email and post.
