[Q] How to fix funny number chars on ][+?

My Apple ][+ (well, its my Mom's now) is exhibiting a strange problem
(strange, at least to me).  the number characters are displayed with
pieces missing but the alphabetic characters are fine.  Has some
ROM gone bad?  Are there separate ROMS which store the number
images from the alphabetic images?  I have a dead ][+ as well so an
indication of what (hopefully socketed) chip to swap would be
apreciated.
