AZ is the only third-party editor to work with the AA. If you have specific
problems with the software, please let me know instead of just getting mad
about it :) 2.0 may already have fixed any problems you are having.

No. You want to sample a) at a low rate to avoid filling DOCRAM and b)
at the pitch SS uses to playback whatever note you are sampling (if you are
sampling a C, you want to record at one of the rates SS uses for a C). This
way you are in correct tune, something many instruments aren't (the DYA ones
are a pleasant exception).
