Re: How to get a 3.5 floppy to work with //c

MOTHERBOARD UPGRADE FOR OLDER IIc: IS THE UPGRADE FREE??

T. J. Fiske wrote that the motherboard upgrade for his older IIc was done
FOR FREE; please supply more details!

I will soon acquire my third IIc; this one is an older IIc and it cannot
operate a Unidisk 3.5" drive. I suspect that it may be of the series which
had modem timing faults also.

WILL APPLE REPLACE THE MOTHERBOARD OR ROMS FOR FREE? Please clarify. My
underrstanding was that they used to do the motherboard upgrade but only if
the customer were buying a NEW Unidisk 3.5" drive from the dealer at the
full retail price.

I already own a Unidisk 3.5" drive (bought new, late '92, Alltech, $159).
Would I be qualified for a free upgrade on the motherboard? If so, then
just how do you ask/beg/demand it? My experience at the Apple dealership is
that I must arrive fully prepared to dictate what is needed; the sales people
shrug and say, "We dont handle Apple II any more." Is there any chapter or
verse from Apple factory recalls that could be cited when the "planned
indifference and ignorance" routine is cast my way? sebugg
