Hard Pressed Questions
Andy McFadden -
I just finally got around to installing HardPressed, and I have several
questions:
1) Is there a way to un-assign command key equivalents in the Finder
Extras menu? I tried to delete those command keys equivalents, and after
re-booting, they are still there. Basically, I don't want to accidently
compress/expand anything, so don't want any command key equivalents,
except for the 'get compression info' key.)
2) I downloaded the patcher you uploaded, and after running it, the HP
Control Panel still says that it is v1.0. I thought I saw in the patcher
docs that it would also change the version number. Did I mis-read that?
3) Before I call WestCode to request it, is there now an "official"
update? If not, how do I get the un-offical update you were passing out at
Kfest. (BTW, I sent my registration card in to WestCode.)
4) I used the manual compression on my second partition, and using just
the standards, it worked great. It gave me an additional 5 megs that I
could really use. Basically, I want to keep my boot partition as is. But,
I want everything on partition 2 to be compressed. So, I used the HP Cdev
and marked partition 2, and marked all the folders on partition 2, to be
compressed, so anything I move the #2 will be compressed. I guess what I
really want to ask is...what's the best way to mark just one partition so
that nothing on it ever gets compressed. Or, is the Preferences a general
preferences, or can it be set up to compress one partition but not
another?
Behinds these questions is the fact that I work with my computer all day,
every day, and I just want to make sure that nothing unexpected ever
happens, and that's why I want to leave my boot drive as is. Am I being
over-cautious, in your humble opinion?
Thanks. I'm real pleased with HP.
