I agree totally. The company still manufactures and sells a competitive
product to the ][ line (//e card for the LC!) and as such won't ever think
of releasing the legal ropes so some enterprising young company could pick up
the Apple ][ torch.

Just think how many schools could save a bumdle if someone (like Laser) were
given the rights to the MEGA ][ chip, Apple // ROM's, etc.. It may be way to
late to do something like this and succeed but Apple would never release
these products to others as long as they can bullsh*t the educational market
into buying Macs until they arew through with them and then they'll start
sellig them PowerPC's and the lawyers will sue anyone using the dead MAC
names.
