It's your human error.  You -must- hold down Open-Apple -after- releasing
CTRL-RESET or it's taken as just CTRL-RESET.  I've had the same problem with
the IIe, so it's not a GS thing.  Also, I've had next to no problems running
8-bit software on my GS; the only thing is some copy-protected Electronic Arts
games (Earth Orbit Stations for one).  Just turn down the system speed and
activate Alt Display Mode for the rare cases where it's needed.
