Hmm, there was a The Manager vs. Switch-It! discussion were they were first
introduced.

It certainly can help. You'll save lot of time loading software here, and
lots of convinence to be able to move between several applications very
quickly/instantly.

I'd recommend HardPressed ( if you're tight on storage, or if you want to
check out a totally *neat/useful* utility ), and/or GNO ( if you ever
use the ORCA environment ) over The Manager on your purchasing priority.
TM is self is a great product, it will do the job fine for most people. There
is a freeware called MultiGS available on cco.caltech.edu, which works
sorta like TM, and does actually work. Much better than the three other
freeware, at the least.
You can also try out The Manager Demo, and the Switch-It! demo, both also
available from cco.caltech.edu.
