I think it's safe to state that GraphicWriter III is the way to go. With the
appropriate drivers you can print color stuff and add some nice effects to your
documents (for example, grayscales by mixing and masking the three gray
patterns.) I think other DTP programs do not offer this capability.
Furthermore, GW III is very intuitive and easy to use.
The only (and major) drawback of GW III is the program itself :). It does not
use resources and looks a bit ugly therefore. System 6.0/resource Manager/and
other features such as keyboard equivalents for controls are simply missing.
Also, there ARE bugs in the program (spelling checker, proprietary TextEdit
routines,..). Once you know where they are, you can be
quite productive, though :))))
I recommend it wholeheartedly anyway. AppleWorks GS seems at a first glance to
be the better program, but once you have explored the many additional features
of GW you'll wonder how you could live without it. (I really think that a
fatbit mode belongs to any DTP program.)
7 Hills promised a 6.0 update that fixes the flaws mentioned above. The "old"
program must be a real SpaghettiFest, and what I've heard from 7H leads to the
assumption that they have rewritten and thrown out major parts. The new GWIII
does not come from the same programmer.
I have no idea when the update willv be available. I guess it has a lower
priority.
