I was also wondering if one or both of the following would possibly
cause this flakey behaviour:

1. A bad solder joint at one of the oscillator socket pins.
2. With all the mods, I've pulled the ZipGS from its slot a
   number of times. Many times I've had to straighten some
   bent pins on the cable. Could this cause the cable to be
   "semi-faulty"?

Also, if I want to check the power that my Zip is receiving 
what is the best way to do this?
