Hello!
I've been working on trying to get my newly acquired hard-drive
installed on my IIGS. I have the Apple HS SCSI card and a Conner 40 meg
(made for apple) and a random (Dynafile external case).
Now here is the problem: Prodos (8 bit versious) recognize the
hard drive, can boot and load and save programs with no apparent problems.
But... any 16 bit version OS's can't. I can't get 5.0.4.. or 6.0 to recognize
the blasted thing. If I boot off the drive, it just hangs on a certain part
of boot up and says error $0201 (?). Or, if I boot off of a floppy, then
it will look at the hard drive (Lights turn on) and then just sit there,
access for 10 or 15 seconds, then return to the finder as if the hard drive
didn't exist.
I also discovered that the Apple utilities, the HD Partitioner does
not format the hard drive. Unless of course hard drive formatting takes 2
seconds... so I don't think the hard drive is getting formatted, though the
partitions are written.
Does anyone have any clue on what's going on? Do I have a bad drive?
card?
I've finally plunked down the money to get a HD... and it doesn't
work perfectly... <sigh>
Thanks a bunch!
