- Summary: Need help with Hard Drive
Hi all-
Recently, when I try to boot up the computer, the hard drive doesn't
seem to be able to come up to speed. (Apple 2gs, Rom3, Apple HS SCSI, PowerDrive
105 meg) I've never had any real problems with it before, here is wht it does-
Turn on machine and drive-
Usually the HD whirs up checks itself, and continues with the same speed /
sound. What is doing now is 'trying' to come up to speed, and itself of
checking itself with a few flashes of light (assuming it reads a few random
sectors of a boot track) and a little bit of noise, I get a 'enh' and the
drive whirs down.
If the computer is on, I get a SCSI BOOT ERROR.
I'm assuming the drive is toast, either due to stuction or ????
Ideas / Comments / Help / etc?
(I'm not worried too much about files, I'm paranoid w/ backups) but I
want to check stuff out before I send the drive to the company for fixing.
Thanks
(any responses, either email or posted will be appreciated.)
