adding parallel card to gs/os

i just got an AE parallel pro for my gs.  since slot 1 was blocked
by part of the PCT i put it in slot 2 and moved the modem to the 
printer port.  i used the DC Printer CDEV to change the port to the
modem port for the printer, but this didn't work.  so i looked through
the system6 install disks and found a Parallel.Card printer driver,
used for the Epson Script.  i copied this to the drivers folder.
  i rebooted, set the port to Parallel.Card and i could print from gs/os
to my dj500 through the parallel pro.  how does gs/os know what slot
i put the parallel pro in?  does anyone have the bufferPro connected
to a parallel pro, if so does it speed things up?
