Who's butt-kissing? _I'm_ certainly not. What I stated above is
entirely true. It's not necessarily pleasant, but the fact that
Apple designed the IIGS with much the same capabilities and
interfaces of the Macs of the time admits that (at the time at least)
Apple management wanted the IIGS to succeed. In fact, it's been
theorized that at the time of the IIGS' introduction Apple was
still unsure that the Mac would be a success. After all, it was
a pretty pathetic machine back then. Anyway, they put a lot into the
IIGS, and are indeed still putting more into it than any other company
would.
I interviewed with Apple once. I mentioned that I'd like to work
in the Apple II department. The guy looked at me like I was totally
nuts. Needless to say, I didn't get hired. :) But that's not the
point- I am undeserving of your comment because your comment is not
true. I'm a developer in this market, and Apple is always very helpful
when I've got problems, or need information, or what not. On the
Apple II. They are not out to slay us all; they made a business
decision that we don't agree with (but their stockholders do).
It's time to get over the, uh, "separation anxiety" :) and
get on with our lives. Apple is a _thing_; the Apple II is a
community. Remember that.
