At last November's infamous "Apple Storm Meeting", the Apple II product
manager said that Apple was thinking about offering Apple II service and
repairs via the mail. Surprise of surprise...they actually went ahead and
did it. Call 1-800-SOS-APPL.

Of course, they'll probably try to charge you an arm and a leg for a free
update, so when you call, ask for the number of an Apple II repair facility
in your area.

(BTW, I called to ask if the Apple II was included in this mail in program.
The guy I talked to was honest, and said that it would be cheaper to look at
your local paper for a complete used system than to send your old system in
to Apple. Or, in Dead Speak...if the thunder don't get you, the lightening
will.)
