SCSI or not SCSI
At the recent Ham radio convention in Dayton there were a number of folks
selling reduced price hard disk unit all marked as SCSI. Some were also
marked as IDE drives. Since I have heard there are differing versions of
SCSI on the market I elected not to buy one of these otherwise good deals.
My question now is, would a "Seagate 40Meg SCSI" platter be useable on my
IIGS? I currently have a CMS 20Meg drive (the internal platter is a
Seagate) and I am /was considering doing a one-for-one swap out with one
of these 40Meg platters. I hesitated since I didn't know for sure if all
Seagate SCSI platters are essentially the same (other than size, of course).
Anyone out there have experience with this (please indicate if your answer
is just speculation rather than actual hands on)?
