Ooh, tough question... BTW I cornered Dave Lyons at Apple Expo West about
this. He said we would just have to use a P8 pre-booter if we wanted to make
$E0 video available to Joe User -- there are known compatibility problems with
applications that exhibit memory bugs if the initial GS/OS & memory manager
loading order in memory is changed significantly (are you feeling ill yet?),
and for that reason he couldn't add a little VOC thwip to the GS/OS PRODOS
file just for us. I guess I'm going to have to write a patch program for the
PRODOS file to do the memory allocation & UserID poking before jumping to the
real PRODOS file. Oh well.
