5.25" Disk drive problem (PLEASE HELP!)

Sorry for the "Please answer" bit, but there seems to be a habit of not
answering the first time a question is made - maybe everybody is
expecting that everybody will answer. :-)

Anyway.
I have a GS. I hadn't used my 5.25" drives in years, and couple months
ago I found out they didn't work. Since John McClean (sp?) came out
with DOS 3.3 Launcher, I wanted to be able to install some of my DOS
3.3 stuff on my hard disk. So, I bought new 5.25" drives from Memory
Plus Distributions. The drives are the daisy chained type.

So, I daisy chained the two 5.25" drives to the port of the GS, and
then I chained the two 3.5" drives from the second 5.25" drive. Both
5.25" drives worked perfectly, but the 3.5" drives were dead - even the
eject button didn't work. I exchanged the two 5.25" drives, and they
still both worked, but the 3.5" drives were also still dead. Can
anybody explain or, better yet, offer a solution? I don't suppose there
are any controllera out there that accept tvhe daisy-chainable 5.25"
drives?
