  Exactly.  Although, adding an "ropen()" call to the UNIX FileSystem 
interface would work great.  UNI dir entries could easily be extended
to point to _two_ inodes (a data inode, and a resource inode).  The whole
concept of resources is solid all the way down.  The gripes of most
Apple II users regarding resources are based on the fact that P8
can't deal with resource forks.
