Look, I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, but...

If you want to do serious sequencing, buy a Mac and a nice ~$700-$1000
keyboard workstation.  The GS simply doesn't have any MIDI sequencing software
that can hold a candle to the current crop of Mac software.  I've also heard
from a PC friend of mine that the current MasterTracks for Windows is very
good (besides you having to use Windows for it, natch ;)

If you just want to mess around, I'd reccomend SoundSmith, simply because
you can digitize your own instruments.  Of course it ain't MIDI, but if
you can be patient with the rather hackish interface you can do some rather
nice stuff.

And best of all, it's (effectively) freeware...I personally couldn't care
if Huibert gets another dime for it.
