You have two options at present, assuming you want to write native IIgs
programs, and not 8-bit software:

MPW IIgs C, from Apple (C cross compiler, running on a Macintosh under
the MPW programming environment). Pre-ANSI, rather old, and basically
unsupported (there is not likely to be a new version, but updating
toolbox header files will probably be available). There is also APW
C, which runs on the IIgs and is equally out-dated and unsupported.

ORCA/C, from Byte Works (runs on the IIgs in the ORCA, APW or GNO
shells, ORCA shell is supplied with the compiler). ANSI C. Well
supported, though it tends to be buggy. Version 2.0 has just been
released, but I'm not very happy with it (see my other posting,
somewhere around this one).

To run ORCA/C, you should have at least 2 megabytes of RAM (4 is
better), System 6 and a hard drive. An accelerator is a definite
bonus. It can run with 1 megabyte, but you have to use a special "low
memory" version of the compiler (only available with version 2.0 and
later) and are likely to have frequent "out of memory" problems.
