Because, despite its name, the resource fork (vs. the data fork) of
GS and Mac files can contain useful data structures. Sounds, Truetype
fonts, text, graphics, etc. I'd rather have the FST store the resource
forks in a separate folder than not at all.

Ack! Blasphemy!!! I'm sure Ian will expound the virtures of
resources (if he hasn't started already). ;-)
