Whoopee...I routinely move data across a serial connection between my
IIGS and my 386 at speeds of up to 38.4K, using ordinary comm programs
and ordinary transfer protocols (usually ZMODEM).  When my IIGS was a
IIe, I was swapping files (in either direction) at speeds of up to
19.2K (max speed for the SSC).

Either you reinvented the wheel...or you've been hanging out with Dr.
Tom lately. :-)
