Pointless 2.01 problem has been observed elsewhere

First I'd like to personally thank all the annoying individuals who mailed
me saying, "Well why don't you call the company up instead?"  Particular
thanks goes to tuu@apple.com. Thanks SO much for your cooperation and help.

So anyways, out of sheer curiousity, and at the expense of my phone bill, I
called up westcode.

Yes, they've come across the bug as well. They've tracked the problem to...
I think they said the system manager, and it seems to occur when more than
91 truetype fonts are installed.

no known fixes yet, "perhaps in a month".

oh boy.
