More ROM 03 problems (locking mouse cursor)

Well, nevermind the summary. This is what happens.

When I shift-boot my ROM 03 into system 6/Prosel, and I go to the desktop
(command-shift-8), I can move the mouse cursor around; go to the classic DA
menu; quit back to the desktop, and still move the cursor around.

Then I quit back to prosel, go into any P8 application.

Go BACK to a desktop application, move mouse cursor around, go to classic DA
menu, quit back to the desktop, and the mouse cursor locks up.

I can't figure it out. It ALWAYS does that.  The computer doesn't hang; it's
just the mouse cursor that locks. I can quit the application, and if I
return to prosel, the mouse starts working again.

Has anyone else come across this feature? I've had it for the LONGEST
time... in fact, I can't remember the last time I could go to the CDA panel
from the desktop without fearing a mouse cursor lockup.
