Because CDs are 600+ MB, that's why. With several thousand images,
the object is to read the existing files off the CD so you can locate
a few worth converting to GS pictures.
Luckily, Thomas Dorris (author of GIFview) was very kind enough to provide
a patch for his program, and donate the source code as PD.
