Demos & human interface guidelines
I just downloaded the Dream Graphix demo off cba2, and I never even
ran it past the title page. As soon as it launches, it assaults my
ears with loud music. I have my system volume set low for a reason,
and if I want it louder I will change it myself.
I'm picking on DreamGraphix right now, but other programs do this as
well. It is _SO_ easy to read the control panel volume setting, there
is _NO_ excuse not to do it. I guess I'm a little peeved at having my
ears just blasted off, but this is an annoyance. Even more annoying
is the fact that when I go into the Control Panel and back out, the
sound returns instantly to full volume. Normally, offending programs
like this can be silenced by entering the Control Panel (CDA). Not
DreamGraphix. So anyhow, Steve Chiang, and others, please respect
the control panel volume settings in the future. It's probably an
oversight but fixing it makes a big difference--the difference between
a polite and a rude program.
