Getting Mac TT Fonts to Pointless
I was given a lead on some STTNG-related TrueType fonts that led to a
mirror of sumex-aim's info-mac directory. I have the files and have
un-BinHex'd them with a utility on the UNIX boxes here. They're now a
bunch of Compact Pro archives with MacBinary headers. I can unpack
the archives on these machines and end up with TrueType font files,
either with MacBinary headers or in .rsrc files (representing the
resource fork, which contains the font).
The $64K question: how do I get these fonts to a IIGS so that I can
use them with Pointless? If they were sound files, I could just pull
the data forks, edit out the sound-file header junk with sox, zip the
file, and send it to my machine. Unfortunately, for some odd reason,
TrueType fonts reside in the resource fork. nulib won't let you
create a ShrinkIt archive with a forked element; if it did, I'd just
use that.
Is there a utility for the IIGS that can read a MacBinary file and
create a forked file? Failing that, is there a utility that can
create a forked file from one or more regular files? I'd rather not
have to deal with a Mac (ick) to get these fonts to my machine, but if
that's what it will take, let me know.
