GS RAM on ROM 3 machine
Got a little problem. I recently upgraded (new motherboard) from
ROM 1 to ROM 3. In the old ROM 1 machine I had a GS RAM from Applied
Engineering (it was in it when I bought the computer second-
handed). Anyways, the GS RAM doesn't like the new motherboard.
The ROM 3 machine has 1Mb onboard plus a full ram card (1.5Mb) should
be 2.5Mb, but the control panel swears it has 3! The machine runs fine
until I have had several applications open one right after the other,
when it will unexpectedly crash. I suspect that it is trying to
address nonexistent memory. I tried the GS RAM on another ROM 3 machine
and it does the same thing, but on another ROM 1 it behaves beautifully!
Is it a problem in the II gs or the GS RAM?? Does AE offer a cheap or
free fix or upgrade? Has anyone else had this problem??
BTW: I've already narrowed it down to the memory card. All other
cards (accelerator, SCSI card, modem, 5.25" controller etc. didn't
contribute)
Thanks.
