Re: TMP Pascal II question

: I dug out the TML Pascal II compilers (dated Sept 11, 1989, and
: [v.1.1] Oct 5, 1989) and was able to compile the skeleton program with
: both. However, just as in Complete Pascal, "Compile to memory" does
: not work. You must compile to disk and then execute the program from
: disk.

I do not have Complete Pascal, but I do have both the TML Pascal II and
Complete Pascal II.

I have no problem compiling to memory under System 6, but most of the time
it will crashed if I do not shift boot. So whenever I do programming, I will
shift boot before I enter the compiler. Or else, always compile to disk.

: Your best bet would be to find someone who wants to sell their
: second-hand copy. I spent months trying to get the latest version of
: Complete Pascal from Vince Cooper with nothing to show for my efforts.
: Numerous others on the net have had similar experiences.

There are not that many differences between TML Pascal II and Complete Pascal
II except the Resource Editor. But unfortunately, I can't get the Resource
Editor of Complete Pascal II to work with menu without crashing.

: The Byte Works has a IIGS Pascal compiler (I don't own it), and offers
: a discount to people who are "trading up" from another company's
: compiler. I understand the Byte Works' system unit files are organized
: somewhat differently than TML's, so a certain amount of code
: conversion would be required to change compilers.

I would suggest everybody upgrades to Orca/Pascal 2.0 when it is released,
and get a real Resource Editor. Complete Pascal II is a very good system,
but unfortunately not reliable, and not supported anymore. Byte Works in my
opinion is a good company with a responsive owner. I don't know why so many
of you out there does not get his response, but whenever I wrote an email to
him, I get a very complete and accurate answer within a few days (normally
second day since I am staying on the other side of the world).
