The printer seems to have some difficulty with Appleworks GS.

Namely if you try to use the page layout then you seem to lose about 2/3 to
 3/4 of the page while it is on the monitor.  to fix this you simply use a 
smaller typeface.  in the Word Processing module a 12 point font is unreadable
 on the screen (to small) and in order to prtint a true 12 points you need to 
use about 14 point for the printout.

I don't believe these are problems with the printer so much as they are signs
 of bad proggramming on Claris's part.
