But it also depends on the type of entertainment software.  I
have never seen DuelTris, but judging from the name I'd assume it
is some sort of spiffy variant of Tetris.  Unfortunately, even
a virtual reality version of Tetris isn't going to get that many
people excited any more.

No offense intended to anyone, but it does seem that lots of
smaller computers are sealing their fates by attempting to
out-do the big guys, or at least just show that they can do
the same things.  Amiga game programmers, for example, seem
obsessed with writing platform games that do Sonic the Hedgehog
(for the Sega Genesis) one better.  The usual result is that people
see the Amiga as a Genesis wannabe and, in the meantime, lots
of good games aren't being written.

This isn't meant to be a knock at DuelTris--more power to the
programmers--or a "the GS needs productivity software, not games!"
rant.  But just think what some really cool software for the GS,
something original which won't beg comparison with products for
other machines, could do.  It would at least get GS owners excited
again.
