DreamGrafix requires the bank 01 SHR memory for a couple of
reasons, and it checks to make sure it gets it. The check is
important, as we use Bank 1 memory, and if Bank 1 is used and not
allocated, memory will get trashed... It sounds like soniqTracker is
writing to bank 1 although shadowing isn't enabled and the memory
isn't allocated.... this may not cause problems now, but it may if a
program is loaded into bank 1.
Using QD2 with shadowing on makes QD2 operate a bit faster (as
you mention). DG is very timing critical in nature, and bank 1 shadowing
gives us a little more time.
As for whose fault it is. All I can say is DG works from the
Finder and from Switch-IT! Although it does sound like the Manager
needs to be updated to handle programs that want bank 1 memory. Why
should programs run slower under the Manager?
