Apple /// Emulation Mode?

I've got an old Apple /// with an Apple ][ emulation disk.  The 
Apple /// really seems to think it's an Apple ][ in this mode, 
however, I haven't been able to figure out a way to get an
80 column display.  

Is there a way to make an Apple /// emulate an Apple ][ with an
80-column card?  I've tried the usual PR#2, PR#3, etc. commands
with no luck.

On a related note, is it possible to access the serial port in the
Apple ][ emulation mode?  If so, how?

And one final question, will Apple ][ cards work in an Apple ///?
