Need help with some text files

Recently a friend (who uses a IBM Compatable) sent me some text files
zipped. I after I unziped them on my GS I tried reading the files, but
apparently something didn't come out right. It looks like all the carrage
returns were turned into an unknown charater which was denoted with an
inverted "?". What can I do besides manually changing all the inverted
"?" manually. I really don't want to do this because there are at least 3
megs of text files. Are there any programs out there that will do this
for me? Thanks for any replies.
