GS -> PC wanted..

Hi out there !
After having changed to a IBM-clone, I'd like to keep my old text files and 
the like. However, documentation for my GS never was that good, and best
suggestion from the local dealer sounded like "Go buy an Appletalk-
connection (whatever it is ..)".
So, if anybody could supply some information about connecting the GS modem 
interface with RS232 (PC serial port) I'd be rather grateful.
By the way, is there a public domain C compiler for the GS ??
