Well, a couple of ideas come to mind.
First, if you are using System 6.0 on the GS you should be able to format
the 3.5 inch disk as an HFS disk which the Mac can read. If you've done
this, and the Mac still chokes on the disk, make sure the disk is a double
density disk as opposed to a high density disk. The GS may be formatting
a high density disk at 800K. When you put this in the Mac, the Mac "sees"
the high density "square hole" and thinks it should be looking at a 1.44Mb
formatted disk!! If this is the case, either use a double density disk
(no square hole along the edge) or put a chunk of tape over the hole in the
disk so you can fool the Mac into thinking it has a double density disk in
the drive!!
Second, if you have an 800K ProDOS formatted disk which you are putting
into the Mac drive to read, make sure you have already launched Apple File
Exchange BEFORE you insert the ProDOS disk. Again, you may have to watch
that you are not using a high density disk (see above).
Finally, there is a system extension for the Mac which allows it to read
ProDOS formatted disks and place them on the desktop. If you still have
trouble with making your conversion this may be an avenue to explore.
