As long as you're scrubbing contacts, it might not be a bad idea to check
the contacts of the key GLU too. My own observations of the problem don't
rule out the possibility that some signal is getting lost between the
microcontroller and the CPU (i.e. in the GLU).
In my machine, both the microcontroller and the GLU are surface-mounted...I
can't imagine that trying to clean them would be much fun...
