Problem with ][GIF
Date sent: 10-DEC-1992 03:26:36
I've got a problem with ][GIF 1.0. It crashes when I attempt to convert a GIF
file. Usually it manages to display a line or two of graphics before crashing
and dumping me into the monitor. I am aware that there is much potential for
error during transfer of the files, so I have already read the FAQs for
alt.binaries.pictures and attempted to troubleshoot. Here is exactly what I do:
First I extract a gif file from a usenet newsgroup (I haven't tried this yet
with files more than one message long). Then, from my account on a Vax, I use
a uudecode program to uudecode the file. Then I transfer it to my Apple //e
enhanced-running-Prodos1.1.1 computer using the kermit protocol (and the Kermit
3.87 term program), making sure to set both vax-kermit and my kermit to
_binary_ file type. Then of course I run ][GIF, attempt to view the file, and
it crashes on me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
