Wish list for FAX software on the GS

[I lost the thread of the FAX discussions, sorry.]

Clarification:  in a recent post, I said the graphic resolution of the
GS made displaying incoming FAX difficult, and the post was generally
a "doom-and-gloom" sounding message.  I would like to apologize for
that (if anyone was offended, hopefully not.)  I was trying to say
that even on "techically-advanced platforms" (read with sarcasm)
like the Intel-based 386/486s, receving FAX is still a problem yet
to be solved.  I was _not_ saying the GS is incapable of receiving
FAX, nor am I discouraging anyone from developing Send AND RECEIVE
FAX software for the GS.  In fact, I would love it, since I now
own the SupraFAXmodem.  I guess my contempt for the MeSsy-DOS machines
did not come across correctly on the net (damn the sarcasm filter on
this version of microEMACS! :-)  I do realize that the Incoming FAX
can be captured and displayed, like GIF files, with scrolling
capabilities, etc., and if WestCode can have the Quickie scanner
scan Text, doing something as simple of displaying pictures is certainly
no problems.

Okay, now that's clarified, I like to give my $0.02 in what I want
in a GS FAX software:

1. Send FAX. (no duh!) Printing a file to printer as normal, or select to
have the output redirected to the FAX.  Text and Graphics are both allowed.
In GUI applications like GraphicWriter III, AWgs, EGOed, etc. (How about
FAXing cool 3200 pics from DreamGrafix, the ONLY 3200 Paint Program on
the GS! [Yes folks, even I can do shameless plugs now :-)].)

2. Receive FAX. I don't really know how I would want this done.  I guess
it should happen in the background.  An Init/NDA/CDA that will do this?
Let's suppose I am typing away on the GS, using EGOed, and my friend
called, and wants to fax me this really cool press release he got about
Apple's decision to release ROM 4 at the stockholders' meeting.  Okay,
so he gets on his FAX machine, and send it over.  The software takes
over, and receives the FAX in the background, while I am still typing
away.  When it's done receiving, I pop into the FAXview software that
came with it, and look at it. (Scrolling with the mouse to see the
complete FAX. like LordHighGiffer and SuperConvert.) I select the PRINT
option, and a nice printout is dumped to the DeskJet.

Like I said, just my $0.02.
